Gas Furnace Maintenance Checklist

Heat Exchanger

Heat exchangers can develop cracks with age. If they exist, there is a risk of serious illness from the toxic fumes emitted.

Air Filter

Dirty air filters can increase operating costs.

Burners

Dirty burners can cause poor combustion. You would end up paying for useful heat that “goes up the stack”.

Thermocouple

A defective thermocouple will cause the furnace to shut down. We don’t take a chance with your comfort, it is replaced before it causes a problem.

Fan Switch

A fan switch that is not properly adjusted can waste energy or cause nuisance fan cycling.

Pilot

Weak or dirty pilots can easily be extinguished, causing the furnace to shut down.

Safety Controls

Safety controls that do not operate can cause dangerous problems.

Blower Wheel

A clean blower wheel and lubricated motor will increase the life of your equipment and provide more comfort to your home.

Gas Line

Undetected gas leaks can be extremely dangerous. A gas leak in the home can cause an explosion if a spark or flame is present.

Combustion Air

Blocked or restricted combustion air openings can be dangerous to your home and property.

Flue Pipe

Flue pipe corrosion or leaks are dangerous.

Panels

Loose panels can increase operating costs and cause a dangerous condition.

Thermostat

Defective or improperly calibrated thermostats affect comfort and operating costs.

Temperature And Performance

An accurate record of vital data can indicate potential problems, which can greatly increase the speed of future repairs.
